So
Carnagecon's theme this year, it being their first birthday after the tenth, is "This is Carnage - We go to 11." Sprinkle umlauts to taste.
The GM challenge is to run games based on the theme of heavy metal and rock 'n roll. This seems to have captured my imagination like no convention theme yet. First I started thinking about a
Werewolf: the Apocalypse scenario where the PCs are all Garou in a travelling rock band fighting the Wyrm between gigs. That metamorphosed into
WitchCraft's Nomads doing the same thing. And then, in the middle of Easter, I was literally struck by a bolt from above that channeled itself straight into the flux capacitor of my brain.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you
The League of Extraordinary Rockers
and the Spiders from Mars
Yes, that legendary team of hard rocking, hard partying, hard fighting secret agents in the struggle against the oppressive forces of The Man find themselves put to the test when the Arachnoarchs, tyrannical spiders from Mars, direct their free will-draining Zomborays against planet Earth as prelude to invasion.
Those heroes leaping into action include:
- Sam Scarlet, the Byronic and charming lead singer, lyricist and thrillseeker.
- Johnny Hendrix, master of the three chord power ballad and fencing champion.
- Molly Dempsey, bassist and martial artist extraordinaire.
- Joanie Lord, keyboardist and all-around technical whiz.
- Freddie Banali, berserker drummer and powerhouse of the team.
Some of this, I'm sure, is thanks to reading about
tfbretz's
Heroes of the New Wave adventure. And I have no doubt my desire for them to fly around in a guitar-shaped rocketship is because of Luke from the podcast
Fear the Boot. But still, I'm super-psyched about this idea. I just wish Carnage weren't so far off!
