terrapin

Acquired

Today's mail brought Lands of Mystery, an old RPG book about a delightfully pulpy inner Earth setting called Zorandar. Dinosaurs, lizard men, a lost Roman legion, the works. It came highly recommended as one of Aaron Allston's best books. I'm looking forward to tearing into this one.

(I just looked it up on the RPG.net Index. This book is 23 years old. !)

I'm thinking about a covert club within a technical college whose members are both students and part-time magicians -- not really Magic Users Club. More like nerds who approach magic with that "experiment and fiddle" mindset, and use fiber optic cable in their summoning circles.

They need a name, and I think it should be 70s-80s vintage, as well as tying back to computers or software. Like the Scions of Yendor, or YASC (Yet Another Secret Cabal). I'm not really happy with either of those, though. I'd use the Wizards of Oz, but it's already taken.

Times like this, I wish I had someone who'd go out for a late evening bite to eat.
